Experience
AV Graphic Design
Graphic Designer, November 2022 - July 2023
Working as a graphic designer for the boutique design studio AV Graphic Design, I had the opportunity to work with large scale businesses that have established branding systems, as well as smaller, more personalised briefs with hands on creativity. Projects included everything from educational flyers, branding concepts, social media posts, and promotional booklets an gables, producing all realms of digital work, and finished art print designs.
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
Communication Design Teacher, July 2021 - Current
In 2021, I was invited to join the Communication Design faculty team as a sessional teacher. Since then, I have had the pleasure of guiding up-and-coming designers through first year Image and Identity, and Introduction to Publication Design classes, and third year Capstone class, mentoring and leading them through self guided coursework to prepare them for their careers as Graphic Designers.
Savannah College of Art and Design
Data Visualisation Specialist, 2014 to 2019
While one of the main duties of this role included creating data visualisation systems, and data collection and management tools, during my time in this role within SCAD my duties encompassed many more tasks beyond the scope of data visualisation. My team was in charge of publication design for award winning Curriculum guides – educational guides for school students visiting the SCAD Museum of Art – and streamlining the creation of designed reports to maintain institutional effectiveness within the college. I also spearheaded design for executive projects, with presentation designs and event and workshop planning being major tasks within those projects. The five years in this role gave me the opportunity to not only hone my design and creative problem-solving skills in an environment requiring a very quick turnaround time, but also gave me the opportunity to collaborate with non-design focused teams on design projects while maintaining great, open communication and creative output.

Graphic Design Workshop Teacher for SCAD Summer Seminars:
‘The Great Poster Tradition’, 2014
SCAD Summer Seminars offer workshops for continuing high school students who have completed their freshman, sophomore or junior years (Years 9, 10, and 11). Students gain valuable educational experience while developing their creative vision through exciting art and design assignments and projects. In the Summer of 2014, I taught poster design classes to enrolled Summer Seminar students, instructing them through concept creation, ensuring they had knowledge of effective communication in design, and guiding them through the process of taking a design to print.
Synergy Audio Visual
Ad hoc Freelance Graphic Designer, 2011 to 2012
As a freelance designer for a private company I have had the chance to work on printed advertisements, corporate profile brochures, stationery and other pieces as the client requests, working with very quick turn around times and coordinating printing and production. This freelance role has also given me the opportunity to experience the approval process within a company.
The Works
RMIT Communication Design Honours Studio Program
Graphic Designer, 2011
The RMIT Communication Design Honours program gives its students the chance to spend the year in a working studio — The Works Design Consultancy — run by the University. This gave me the opportunity to experience studio life, work with clients on real life briefs with the knowledge that our Honours Coordinator was there to answer any questions and aid with any problems. The year spent at the studio allowed me to see and work in a range of different areas, from book design to web, and gave me the chance to experience all the roles and responsibilities required to undertake in a design studio. I have been in client meetings, liaised with printers and paper suppliers, and had the chance to work within the pressure of a studio environment.
Freelance Graphic Designer, 2009 to Current
As a Freelance Graphic Designer I have had the chance to work on wedding invites, newsletters, brochures, logos, stationery and a range of other creative projects. The freelance work gave me the first opportunity to find my feet on my own and rely on myself and my design decisions and has been a hugely rewarding and educational experience.
